A laminated wood shell forms the seat and backrest. The transverse steel tubes are not fixed to the seat but are able to revolve, and the flexibility of the angled legs makes the chair tilt.

When one tilts backwards on a chair, the best resting areas for the forearms are on either side of the backrest; when one tilts forward, the table surface is a natural area of support. This is the reason why so many of Peter Opsvik’ chairs have just such forearm supports.
